Playing with Blocks

Gabe is learning a little more each day. He really likes playing with blocks and balls. Here's a little video to show how he plays with his blocks and claps for himself. It's a little long... mainly for the grandparents :)

Fun at the Park

We have had really nice, warm and sunny weather recently which is a little weird for winter in Seattle, but we'll take it. On Monday, Gabe and I went to the Mukilteo ferry park with Laura for a walk and Gabe got to swing a little. Annie got to go with us too and she loves seeing all the other dogs and chasing seagulls. I tried really hard to get Gabe to smile for the pictures, but only Laura could get him to smile while he was on the swings. She must have the magic touch!

One Year Old

Gabe's actual birthday was Saturday the 13th, but we celebrated with friends on the 20th since we were out of town on his big day. He had fun opening a few gifts from mommy and daddy. He is a big fan of the workbench and hammer :) Actually anything and everything becomes a hammer once Gabe gets it. He also hammered his cake with his fists instead of eating it!

12 Month Stats

Gabe had his 12 month appointment on Wednesday this week and here are his stats:

Weight: 20 lbs. 6 oz.
Height: 30.59 inches
Head Circumference: 47.7 cm

The nurse forgot to update the percentiles on my take home sheet, but I remember his weight was around 10-15% and HC was still around 90%. He has a giant head and now wears hats from the boys' department :) He is not walking, but he will walk along furniture really well. He's just way too scared to ever let go. He loves eating food and poops 3-5 times a day. He doesn't say any words yet, but still growls all the time, yells when he's excited, and whines a lot when he wants something. I hear some growling over the baby monitor, so nap time must be over. I'll post pictures from his birthday party tomorrow.

Vancouver Olympics

About 1 1/2 years ago we decided to try to get tickets for the 2010 Winter Olympics since they were going to be so close (in Vancouver). Little did we know that we would end up getting tickets for an event on our son's first birthday. Last Saturday, Mike, Gabe, and I went to Vancouver along with Mike's college roommate, Chuck. It was pretty wet and cold walking around Vancouver early in the day, but the short track speed skating events at Pacific Coliseum were really cool to watch. Gabe will probably never remember his first birthday at the Olympics, but we still had fun :)

747-8 First Flight

Mike has been working on the 747-8 (new 747 airplane) for several months and on Monday it had the first flight. Gabe and I were actually able to watch the plane land at Paine Field with Mike. We're both proud of all the work Mike does to make sure the planes don't crash :) ...and Gabe loves that it's a big plane that makes noise and moves fast!

Super Bowl & DiGiorno Party

This past Sunday, we hosted a Super Bowl party and had a great time with people from our community group (even though the Colts didn't win). I also had the opportunity to host a DiGiorno pizza party through houseparty.com, so we combined the two events. So we had lots of delicious food, great company, and football to watch. Mike impressed me with his rice krispies treat artwork skills.
